Frequently asked questions

The things people ask us most, answered straight — including the ones about money.

How much does a vehicle wrap cost?

It depends on the vehicle's size and shape, how much of it you're covering, the vinyl grade, and how much design work is involved. Cut vinyl lettering sits at the affordable end, partial wraps in the middle, and full colour-change wraps at the top. Send us the make and model plus a couple of photos and we'll give you real numbers, usually within one business day.

How long does a job take?

Most vehicle wraps take one to three days in the workshop once artwork is approved. Building signage varies more, since it depends on fabrication and whether council consent or an access permit is needed. Print work is typically the quickest. We'll give you a firm timeframe with your quote rather than a guess.

Do you travel outside Auckland?

Yes. Our workshop is at 7 Great South Road, Papatoetoe, and vehicle wraps, print and smaller signage can be freighted anywhere in New Zealand. For larger installations our team travels to site. If you're outside Auckland, get in touch and we'll tell you honestly whether the job is workable remotely — most vehicle and print work is.

How long will a wrap last?

A quality cast vinyl wrap with a UV laminate, properly installed, typically holds up for around five to seven years in New Zealand conditions. How it's cared for makes a real difference — hand washing, avoiding stiff-bristle automatic washes, and parking under cover where possible all extend its life considerably.

Will a wrap damage my paint?

Not on sound factory paint. In fact a wrap protects the paint underneath from UV and stone chips. The exception is paint that's already compromised — peeling clear coat, previous respray work of unknown quality, or rust. In those cases the vinyl can lift loose material on removal, so we'll assess the surface before quoting.

Can you match my existing brand colours?

Yes. Send us your brand guidelines or original logo files and we'll match to them. Bear in mind that printed vinyl and illuminated acrylic render colour differently to screen and to paper, so for critical brand colours we can produce a sample before committing to a full run.

What file formats do you need for artwork?

Vector formats are best — AI, EPS, PDF or SVG with fonts outlined. These scale to any size without quality loss and are essential for CNC routing and laser cutting. If you only have a JPEG or PNG of your logo, we can usually redraw it, but that's design time that adds to the job.

Do you handle council consent for building signage?

We can advise on what's likely to need consent and prepare the documentation, but the consent application itself is lodged with your local council. Signage rules vary by zone and by whether the building is in a heritage area, so it's worth raising early — it can affect timeframes more than the fabrication does.

Can you remove an old wrap before applying a new one?

Yes, and it's usually best done back-to-back to minimise vehicle downtime. Removal involves gently heating the film so the adhesive releases cleanly. Older wraps past about five years can be more stubborn and are worth having removed professionally to avoid paint damage.

Do you do design as well as production?

Yes. We handle concept, design, print, fabrication and installation in-house. That means the person designing your sign understands how it will be made and installed, so you don't end up with a design that looks good on screen but doesn't work on a curved van or a fascia with a power conduit running across it.
